WHAT IS NICAS
NICAS is a nationally recognised award scheme. However it's not just that, it's a lot of fun, great exercise, and teaches useful skills such as problem solving, hand eye co-ordination, and of course how to climb safely and skillfully. Our sessions are 1hr long where we cover bouldering, climbing movement & technique, play games, complete challenges, and so much more!
ALL INCLUDED
As part of our Kids Clubs, everything required to climb is included as standard so you don't need to worry about anything else in order to complete the scheme. Of course, you're more than welcome to bring your own equipment, and we do encourage those in the later levels to have their own shoes that tailor to their foot and specific style of climbing.
NICAS LEVELS
The NICAS: Bouldering award scheme is split into 5 distinct levels. Everyone starts at Level 1 which primarily covers safe climbing under supervision and an introduction into the sport. Level 2 continues to develop safe climbers, as well as introduce good practices in climbing and basic movement skills. Level 3 continues to develop climbers technique and movement skills, as well as have the aim that the climber would be able to climb safely and confidently at any indoor bouldering gym. Level 4 focuses on developing children into self-motivated boulderers, helping them to achieve a high standard of climbing and support them through their goals. Level 5 is the top-level award that focuses on improving performance, a deeper understanding of advanced techniques, and training, as well as experience of local and national competitions.
WAIVERS
All our activities require a parental consent waiver for under 18s. Please make sure you've signed this before turning up for any activities. If you'll be supervising your child's climbing on either the bouldering or tall walls you'll also need to fill out a Supervisor Waiver in addition to the Parental Consent waiver.
